Friday Ops Review Before $10k MRR
Before $10k MRR, the week usually fails from open loops, not from a missing dashboard. A short Friday review closes the week with cash reality, three pipeline actions, and one honest Kill.
Why Friday, not “whenever”
Solo founders already know the work. What slips is deciding what not to carry into Monday. A fixed Friday slot beats a perfect template you never open. Thirty minutes is enough if the inputs already exist: pipeline notes, support queue, and a simple cash or runway number.
This is not a board meeting. It is a personal operating habit. Skip invented dashboards until the habit sticks.
Prep (2 minutes)
- Open the same three places every week: pipeline list, support/bugs, and cash or runway note.
- Do not rebuild the board mid-review. Capture gaps as next-week chores.
- Phone on Do Not Disturb. One timer for 30 minutes.
The 30-minute agenda
Minutes 0–5 — Cash and capacity reality
Write the ending cash or MRR figure you actually believe, runway in weeks if you track it, and whether you worked more hours than you planned. No forecasts. No “should be.” Just the week that happened.
Minutes 5–15 — Pipeline: three next actions
Scan open conversations. Keep only items with a named next action and a due date. Promote the top three that can move before next Friday. Everything else stays parked or gets a single “parked until” date. “They ghosted” is not a next action; “send one clarifying question by Tuesday” is.
Minutes 15–22 — Support vs bugs
Separate customer questions from product defects. Close or schedule the ones that block a buyer. Defer UI polish that does not unblock a sale or retention risk this week.
Minutes 22–28 — One Kill decision
Kill one thing: a channel that produced no useful conversations, a feature half-built without a buyer asking, or a recurring meeting that protects nothing. Write the Kill in one sentence so Monday-you cannot reopen it quietly.
Minutes 28–30 — Stop
Set the three Monday first actions. Close the doc. Do not start building from the review itself.
Minimum fields
Keep five fields somewhere you already look: ending cash/MRR note, top 3 pipeline actions, open support that blocks buyers, one Kill, Monday first actions. That is enough before $10k.
What this is not
- Not a promise of more customers or higher MRR.
- Not a replacement for talking to buyers.
- Not a reason to buy software before you have people in a pipeline.

If the habit already hurts
When Friday reviews stall because tabs and runway math are scattered, the Indie Ops Pack ($39) bundles a small HQ, MRR/runway workbook, and playbook. Skip it until the 30-minute habit exists without the kit.
